Coordinated Plan Public Information Sharing Sessions

Do you have an idea for improving mobility in Imperial County?
Want to weigh in on future transportation improvement opportunities?

If so, the Imperial County Transportation Commission (ICTC) will soon provide an opportunity to do so whether in-person or online.

Area bus riders as well as the overall community will also have an opportunity to learn more about the Coordinated Plan project at information-sharing sessions planned for Tuesday, May 4 (Brawley Transit Center, Fifth & G Streets), Wednesday, May 5 (Calexico Transit Center, East Third Street), and Thursday, May 6 (El Centro Transit Center, Seventh & State Streets).

Bilingual project representatives will be present from 7:30 am to 10:30 am and again from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Starting late last year, the ICTC has been working with a wide variety of community stakeholders, bus riders, and residents to identify current and future mobility needs throughout Imperial County. While the scope of the project is relatively broad, the cornerstone objective is to improve mobility for persons who often are transportation-disadvantaged including seniors, persons with disabilities, low-income individuals, youth, veterans, and homeless individuals.

According to the ICTC‘s David Aguirre, who serves as project manager, the Coordinated Transportation Plan seeks to identify strategies which are practical, impactful, and cost-effective. “First and foremost, ICTC and its project partners are seeking ideas which will benefit the largest number of transportation-disadvantaged persons possible, ideas which can be implemented or introduced in a relatively short period of time, and ideas which fall within current budget parameters or near-term/likely funding,” Aguirre explained.
